Connecting Custom Domain

Before your start

By default your portal is accessible at basic URL you define before you provision the portal. For some use cases, like internal portal that may be more than enough, but in most cases customers want to expose their portal at their own custom domain.

You can attach custom domain to Externable instance in My Portals panel.

However, before you can attach your domian, you need to configure your DNSs, so that your domian forwards the traffic to Externable servers. That step needs to be complated outside of Externable at your DNS provider (like GoDaddy). Table in Custom Domain tab shows you what DNS entries you need to create, so essentially CNAME and TXT records.

IMPORTANT: Refreshing DNSs at domain providers may take up to 24hrs, however it usually takes less. So when you create your DNS records, you may not see the result immidiately.

Attaching custom domain

When you updated your domain DNSs you can set your website URL (naked, so without www) and click Validate Domain Configuration:

If that suceeds you will see confirmation - click Attach Domain to Portal:

You custom domain attachement is in progress:

You will see this dialog until it accomplishes:
