Upgrading

Externable is Software as a Server (SaaS) model application. That means that continues upgrades and development is included in your subscription fee.

When you provision instance for the first time you always get the newest software version. When you have your instance running, we give you updates for free, but we don;t apply them automatically to avoid disruption and collision with your customizations. So instad of forcing updates to everyone, we announce new version with release notes to users and if you are ready, you can opt in for them and upgrade your portal.

IMPORTANT: We always recommend to test new versions in non production instance first, before you apply it to your production instance. If you subscription is not including non-production instances, we reccommend taking backup before they upgrade, so that you could restore previous version if upgrade affects your customizations

  1. To opt in for the upgrade go to My Portals panel and go to Upgrade tab and click Check for upgrade:

When upgrade is available for you, you can click Upgrade. If you are on the latest version, system will let you know.

  1. Upgrading takes time, when it finishes the progress window will disappear and you can access your website.

IMPORTANT: First start after upgrade may take longer than usually due to cache build.
