Introduction to Externable

Externable is Software as a Service (SaaS) product, which enables you to codelessly set up web portal natively integrated with Dynamics 365 CE/Dataverse! It is the first true Content Management System natively integrated with Dynamics!

What it does?

You can create cloud based website which can serve as a customer portal, employee portal, partner portal or virtually any other portal you can imagine! You can enable people from outside to interact with your Dynamics data directly! You can use existing templates for capturing web leads, creating tickets or presenting invoices, but you can expand to any other entity you like! It is customizable, flexible solution which you can modify without touching code (drag and drop experience)! But - if you like code, you're more than welcome to add custom lines.

What problem it solves?

You can allow others to interact with Dynamics data through public portal You don't need to be developer to spin up internet portal

How is that better than anything we know so far?

  • Looks modern!
  • Creating content is easy and intuitive
  • Is codeless in the first place, but supports customizations in .NET and JavaScript!
  • Pricing is easy and predictable - you subscribe to Externable and you know what your bill will be. No hidden charges for logins or page views!
  • Is API calls efficient, can work with Data Export Service to respect API limits. It touches Dynamics only for data, whole content, media and rendering happens in the cloud outside of your Dynamics!
  • It's CMS (Content Management System) - it's is the first proper CMS integrated natively with Dynamics. So it comes with all proper CMS features, like caching content, scheduling publication, rich content editing.

Techstack & Requirements

Externable is a Dynamics/Dataverse CMS built on technology being developed since 2003 - ASP.NET & Umbraco. It works in the cloud so you don't need any infrastructure to run Externable. We support Dynamics 365 CE online and on-premises (since v8.1). It will work with the vanilla Dataverse (CDS) instance and any Model Driven PowerApp, however some components from the template will need to be removed due to missing entities (like Invoices or Cases). It's worth noting that you can run Externable without Dynamics/Dataverse too - great option if you want it's features for portal which doesn't require connection with Dynamics!
